All England Tennis Club is all set to start 2018 session of Wimbledon with grand masters of Grand Slams like Federer, Nadal, Murray, Serena Williams. Novak Djokovic is not sure of his presence Wimbledon Championship in 2018. By 26th June the fans will come to know about Serena Williams to be in the Wimbledon or not. Andy Murray had surgery in January and is back in the training court, but if he is not within the top 32 ranking, then he might not be able to play this year Wimbledon. The final list will show the final names of the Grandmasters in The Championship, Wimbledon by the end of June 2018.
The prize of Wimbledon this year is $45.5 million, and the sum is enormous. If we calculate the amount in pounds, then it comes to 34 million pounds. And this amount is increased from last year’s amount which was 31.6 million pound. This for the consecutive seven years that Wimbledon increased the prize money and this is for only one reason that is to make the Championship the best of all the grand slams with high prestige and honour for the winners and the runners-up. Prize Money for Winners and Runners-up
The increase in prize money increased from 5% to 7.6% which is a massive increase from 31 million pounds to 34 million pounds. Even with such an upsurge Wimbledon is still not a lucrative grand slam compare to US open. A large part of the prize money will go to men’s and women’s single from the qualifying round to the real winners. Rest remaining money will be distributed to the doubles men and women and even the singles. One should note that there is 25% increase in Doubles and 25% increase in wheelchair events.
Actual figures of the prize money
For both the men and women winners the prize money would be 2.5 million pounds, for men and women doubles the winning money is 4.5 million pounds, and the mixed double winning money is nothing less than 1.1 million pounds. The wheelchair winning money would be 0.4 million pounds.
The prize money of the runners-up for each of the above category is half of the winning money. The prize money distributed from the first round till the finals amount to 34 million pounds.

Wimbledon is one of the oldest Grand Slam of the world, and the prize money was as little as 26,000 pounds in 1968. But in 1984 the prize money entered in million mark which was 1.46 million pounds. From then onwards the prize money was always in a million and thus it went up every year which touched 34 million pounds this year, the all-time high with an upsurge of 7.6% increase. Wimbledon always maintained its standard to be the best of all Grand Slam and thus its prize money was not less than any other Grand slam.
